Types Of Clawfoot Bathtubs

Most of us do not think about the different materials that are used to make a tub. All we know is that it is generally white and made with a tough material that is thick and at times easy to clean. But you can broaden your horizon and choose the type that you want that will fit your bathroom style.

Acrylic

The most commonly used material is acrylic. This is what is used to make many of the common and average bathtubs that we use today. The one thing that is great about acrylic bathtubs is that they are easy to maintain and they are often cheaper then most types of tubs. However, you need to be careful because if you do not maintain it rust and stains will appear and will stick to it.

Cast Iron

As we have said already clawfoot bathtubs are often used by people who are trying to give their bathroom a classic and almost antique look to it. One of the best ways to do this is to use clawfoot bathtubs made with cast iron. While cast iron might be slightly more expensive than using acrylic it is also thicker and stronger.

Many manufacturers will make cast iron clawfoot tubs with a layer of porcelain on the interior of the tub. It keeps traditional with the white appearance of many tubs – but it has a certain shine to it that makes it truly unique.

Copper

If you wish to be truly unique and add something to your home that cannot be found in many place than you will love cast iron clawfoot bathtubs. Copper bathtubs have the most unique look because of their natural color and help to create either a rustic or even a classic look to it that can be hard to find. These are some of the more expensive types of tubs and in order to keep their shine you need to make sure that you maintain them properly.
